The High Holidays are right around the corner, and it’s the perfect time to care for your soul with a spiritual tune-up.
Join student Rabbi Lizzie Frankel for some nourishing learning, as we head into the most sacred time on the Jewish calendar.
These workshops are for adult learners of all ages and stages. You don’t need to be Jewish to participate! You are welcome to register for all four workshops with a season pass or register for the ones that most resonate with you right now.

August 24: High Holiday Hebrew 101
Curious about the meaning of the Hebrew words you’ll encounter during High Holiday services? This class is for beginners interested in building a foundation of core Hebrew vocabulary that will aid in understanding High Holiday prayers. Each student will receive resources to use for future reference and study. No Hebrew background is required — seriously!
August 31: Greatest Hits for God-Wrestlers
Learn about the key prayers and texts of the High Holidays, finding meaningful points of connection YOUR way! Together, we will wrestle with the words of Avinu Malkeinu and Un’taneh Tokef to build deeper meaning when encountering these passages during services. We will pay special consideration to metaphors for God.
September 7: The Ram in the Thicket: Reckoning with Loss & Life During the High Holidays
For many people, the High Holidays evoke deep questions and emotions surrounding loss and life. In this session, we will dive into these topics through text study and reflection. We’ll discover new perspectives on the difficult story of the Binding of Isaac, bringing it into dialogue with our own lives and losses as we enter this High Holiday season.
September 14: “I’m Not Fasting”: Spirituality for Those Who Eat on Yom Kippur
Eating on Yom Kippur is increasingly common for people who have health concerns or do not connect spiritually to the act of fasting. How can we find spirituality in eating on Yom Kippur? This class will explore spiritual practices and resources to nourish various forms of embodied connection to the holiday.
