Reading Hebrew Prayers
Practice reading Hebrew prayers with Student Rabbi Lizzie Frankel and an online classroom community!
In each of the six sessions in this course, we will focus on a different selection of prayers from the siddur (prayer book). We will also explore the meaning of the prayers, learn key Hebrew prayer vocabulary, and hear common prayer melodies. This program was created in partnership with the Union for Reform Judaism.

PLEASE NOTE: This course is designed for students who are already familiar with Hebrew letters and vowel signs and can slowly sound out Hebrew words. If you’d like to learn the Hebrew letters and vowel signs, please fill out this Learn to Read Hebrew inquiry form – we’d love to learn with you!
Reading Hebrew Prayers is a course created in partnership between Judaism Your Way and the Union for Reform Judaism (URJ), utilizing URJ course materials. There is no workbook for this course. Optionally, we suggest you purchase your own copy of Mishkan T’filah: A Reform Siddur, transliterated (Shabbat and Weekdays) in either standard size or in the large print edition, but this is not strictly necessary for our course. We will provide selected pages for practice. All materials will be available in our online learning platform, and we will share the link as you begin the course.
Location: Virtual via Zoom (link provided upon registration)
Dates: Sundays, Feb. 22, March 1, 8, 15, 22, & 29 from 10:00 – 11:00 am MT
We offer a sliding scale with three registration options so you can select the amount that feels most appropriate for you ($200, $225, or $250). All options provide the same access to the program; your choice simply helps us keep this work sustainable and available to all. All sessions will be recorded.
